Ethiopian Yirgacheffe

These coffee beans come from the Kochere district of Irgachefe (transliterated as Yirgacheffe) in central southern Ethiopia which many consider the birthplace of coffee.  The high average elevation of 6,000 feet of the area and the warm climate is highly conducive for growing coffee as the combination gives the beans a unique and fragrant flavor of lemon, milk chocolate and orange.  Plus, the coffee beans from this area have less acidity compared to other African coffee beans.  The coffee beans we procure are certified as Grade #1, which is the best of the 9 grades and considered a “specialty” coffee.  We roast these beans at a medium roast to maximize its fruity flavor.
