We all been there whether it was a first date or a relationship breakup. Being at a coffee shop all day, we see and hear both the good and bad. It is not that we are watching or listening, but we are very observant to our surroundings.
For those on first dates, it’s obvious to spot the newbie couple as they are talking and laughing for hours on end typically at the corner (near the glass window and happy Buddha) of our coffee shop. And I tell you…the high energy conversation is not the caffeine from our drinks or Italian desserts. On the other hand, for couples that are breaking up, this is also common to spot. It is not that joyful conversation, but the serious talk with stern faces with one usually breaking down crying, running to the bathroom or storming out of the shop. Most of the time, these breakups occur toward the back of the shop when our shop is relatively empty of patrons and near closing time.
What is your take? Have you had or think it is a good idea to have a first date in a coffee shop? Or have you used that invisible dagger to stab someone’s heart or were the one to have your heart broken at a coffee shop? Oh, I forgot to mention that we have a sign in our shop area that says “Will trade coffee for gossip”. Just joking, but we are all curious to read about your comments while we sip our coffee so feel free to leave them below.
